Imam Mahdi in Poetic Compositions

Yeh Roz Roz Ka Qissa Tamam Ho Jaye

(Implore the hidden Imam to appear

The daily hassles will disappear)

This is how a modern poet has underlined the significance of Imam Mehndi’s appearance as a solution to all worldly problems .He is not the first to do so, for poets have been eulogizing the awaited Imam for centuries. Their couplets lay to rest all the objections raised by Anti-Ahle-Bait elements   about the claim of Imamis about Zahoor (Appearance) of their 12^th and last Imam Mehndi Akhiruzzama.

The poet , Kumayt  had faith in Imam Mehndi as is evident from his couplet :

“When the truth shall be established among you.

When your second Mahdi will rise up.”

Similarly. Dibil Khuzai also composed and recited in presence of Imam Ali Raza about hidden Imam .One of his compositions says :.

 “Then if it had not been what I desire for today or tomorrow.

Any heart would have broken in the grief of your signs.

Advent of an Imam  whose advent is imminent.

He will move with the name of God and with bounties.”

Another poet Syed Himyari also composed poems about the occultation of Imam Mehndi. His poem regarding the reappearance of Imam is as follows:

“And in the same way we have narrated from the successors of Muhammad

And none of us that has said it has any falsehood in it.”

Ibne Rumi was an accomplished poet of his times. The elegy he composed in the honor of the martyr, Yahya Alawi and the atrocities he suffered at the hands of the oppressors also mentions about  Imam Mehndi. He says:

“You are in deceit if you say the truth that this condition will remain same forever for you.

While time obviously has two colors.”

Fazl  has also praised and described awaited  Imam  and says:

“Peace be on the Qaim, the awaited one.

Abul Qasim, the master, the light of guidance

 Abil Hadid , another eminent poet , has also confirmed the reappearance of Imam Mehndi in his composition. He says:

“And certainly I know that it is necessary that your Mehndi will come.

And I am waiting for that day

Abul Maali Sadruuddin has not only talked about Imam Mehndi in his kalam but also pointed out that hidden Imam will surely appear despite the sinister designs of mischief mongers. He remarks:

“He will be established on the earth by the command of Allah and reappear on the earth

In spite of the mischief  of the evil people.”

Syed Haider Hilli, one of the famous litterateurs and an eminent man of letters, also composed elegies mourning the martyrdom of Imam Husain.. In some of his compositions he has implored Imam Mehndi to appear and purify the earth of the wild wolves of the Umayyads, polytheism and corruption. His poem runs as follows:

“Is there anyone to take my message to the master of affairs?

That contains the true feelings (sadness) and all of them are sparks of fire (embers).”

The compositions of these great poets of their times have been inspiring the present generation of poets to implore the hidden Imam to reappear for establishment of  peace, tranquility ,equity Justice and truth on earth.
