Shias and Sunnis of Lucknow have done what is need of the hour. In an exemplary move, they organized a massive demonstration to condemn the execution of Muslim cleric Sheikh Baqar al-Nimr by Saudi government on January 2,2016.Led jointly by Shia cleric, Maulana Syed Kalbe Jawwad and his Sunni counterpart Maulana Hasnain Baqai, the demonstrators rent the air with anti-Saudi Arabia slogans and sought cooperation of international community to prevent King Salman from silencing his opponents in future under the garb of a farce judicial process based on ‘misinterpretation’ of Quranic verses. Holding black flags and pictures of the martyr Sheikh, the protesters demanded intervention of United Nations and Human Right organizations against the blatant violation of human rights in the desert Kingdom for the past several decades. Addressing the demonstrators, Maulana Jawwad appealed to both Sunnis and Shias to boycott Saudi Arabia for bringing disgrace to Islam by perpetrating violence in its name though terrorist outfits. Maulana Baqai also criticized severely Riyadh for executing Sheikh Nimr and a Sunni Scholar Faris Zarani for raising voice against marginalization of minority community and funding of terrorist outfits. Both leaders exhorted Shias and Sunnis to register their protest by sending emails to Saudi Embassy, UN and Human Rights outfits like Amnesty International.

By staging demonstration together, both the communities conveyed to the world neither Shias nor Sunnis is a threat to world peace. Rather, it is Wahabis, Deobandis, Tablighis and Salafi sects and their ideology that has turned peaceful Islam into a violent religion before the world. Wahabis usually don’t reveal their identity and project themselves as Sunnis. They call themselves Sunnis to deceive gullible Muslims. Their ideology traces its origin to 18^th century but challenges over 1300 years old established rituals of both Shias and Sunnis. For more than two centuries, Wahabism has been Saudi Arabia's dominant faith. It is an austere form of Islam that insists on a literal interpretation of Holy Quran. Strict Wahabis believe that all those who don't practice their form of Islam are enemies. Their rigidity has given birth to extremists such as Osama bin Laden and the Taliban. The growth of Wahabism began in the 1970s when Saudi regime started funding Wahabi schools (madarsas) and mosques from all across the globe with Islamabad as nerve center during the rule of General Zia Ul-Haque.

Wahabis are followers of Muhammad ibne Abdul Wahab of Najd in Saudi Arabia whereas Shias and Sunni Muslims are followers of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad. Shias and Sunnis believe in intercession and mysticism whereas Wahabis call them as innovations. Sunnis strictly follow one of the four schools of thoughts while Shias are followers of Jafri School. Wahabis reject all these schools and follow their sheikh. Wahabis do not observe annual Sufi festivals, events or even the birthday of Prophet. They also reject Sunni Muslims belief in visiting tombs or shrines of saints for solution of their problems. Wahabis have been utilizing vast resources against Shia and Sunni practices and execute those proving to be a thorn in their endeavor to shatter world peace in the name of purifying religion. Muslims of Lucknow have taken a right step to draw world attention to the menace being spread by Saudi regime in the name of Islam. Time has come for true believers to expose Wahabis who have written volumes to show disrespect to Holy Prophet. The threat to the world will continue so long as Saudi regime is allowed to fund the current Wahabi leaders. ‘House of Saud can only be destroyed by a joint effort of Sunnis and Shias to let the whole world know that a vast different exists between Wahabis and two major and traditional sects of Islam. An all out campaign should also be initiated to highlight the derogatory remarks made by Wahabis against the Prophet by scholars of Deoband. Lucknow has shown the way as to how ordinary Muslims can take on a united stand against Saudi government’s evil design to float Wahab’s Islam in place of Hazrat Muhammad’s religion. May Allah give guidance to Muslims of other parts of the world to understand the real intentions of Saudi Arabia behind the execution of Sheikh and Fasir on the charge of being supporters of Al-Qaida-a terrorist outfit patronized by Saudi rulers only.(Photo Courtesy-Google Images ).
