Brussels Blasts & Hussaini Ideology's Relevance

Brussels Airport after the Blasts
Dr.Mazhar Naqvi

Islamic State (IS) has struck once again. High alertness proved to be of no use and the dreaded outfit did in Brussels what it had declared. After leaving scores of innocent people dead and severely injured, IS not only claimed the responsibility of terrorist attacks at Airport and Metro but also warned of similar bloodshed in future. Brussels blasts have exposed vulnerability of not only Belgium but also of entire Europe against IS. The attack is being condemned throughout the world. President Barrack Obama has called for support to Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel. He said "We must be together regardless of nationality or race or faith in fighting against the scourge of terrorism. We can and we will defeat those who threaten the safety and security of people all around the world."
Michel described the blasts as a "black moment" for his country and conceded "What we had feared has come to pass." The words of Belgium Prime Minister need to be analyzed and examined carefully. His remark reveals helplessness of his regime to prevent militants from carrying out their threat despite anticipating what was in the offing. The time has come to consider the factors that have turned Belgium virtually into European Headquarters of IS. Why IS has been able to attract maximum number of ‘Jihadis’ from Belgium. It is a known fact that 40 per cent Muslims live in poverty in Belgium and unemployment is driving youths to consider IS as a potential recruiter. The Belgium government preferred alertness after Paris attack but ignored the plight of its Muslim population concentrated in a particular area known as Molenbeek. The locality has high unemployment rate and IS has turned it into its stronghold by recruiting jobless youths.
As was witnessed after Paris blasts, US and its allies have once again called for waging a merciless war against the perpetrators. If the past is any indication, a lull will follow after the initial hue and cry. Governments and political leaders will wait for another attack and then behave like fire extinguishers. They don’t believe in the maxim ’prevention is better than cure’. Their tendency to patronize Israel and Saudi Arabia for political and economic considerations is the reason. History has proved on numerous occasions that neither vendetta nor persecution has ever been able to eliminate any ideology. IS has been able to float Umayyad ideology that had misguided Muslims to the extent that they shouted ‘Allah –O-Akbar’ (God is Great) after killing the grandson of Prophet at Karbala. In Paris too, raiders went on killing spree with Allah- O- Akbar on their lips. They meticulously executed their barbaric operation that left not only France but the entire world baffled. The raiders were not afraid of dying. Rather, they exhibited as if they were Jihadis and destined to be in paradise.
Over the years, such thinking has been nursed among Muslims by religious preachers who get hefty amount to misinterpret holy Quran with the objective of garnering support for anti-Islamic terrorist attacks. The amount is offered by countries that don’t believe in democratic or human values and wish to remain in power in the name of purifying Islam. Such nations oppose ‘Hussaini Revolution’ also and support financially ‘Mullas’ and ‘Maulvis’ to discourage people from attending Muharram rituals They oppose Karbala as it inspires people to rise against tyranny and oppression. Ironically, US traditionally been patronizers of such elements. Washington is more interested in toppling Syrian President instead of entering into a coalition with Russia to launch an all out offensive against Baghdadi.

Barrack Obama regime must reduce its love for Saudi Arabia. The desert kingdom has been responsible for giving birth to what has come to be known as Islamic Terrorism. Saudis have promoted the ideology of Ibn Abdul
Wahab who allowed killing of all non-believers incumbent upon Muslims through his own interpretations of Quranic verses. IS has been using this   ideology to legitimize terrorist activities in the name of Islam. The way IS has survived so far indicates the need put forward Hussaini Ideology more aggressively. Anti-Hussaini elements need to consider Imam Hussain as martyr of humanity. The governments longing for elimination of terrorism should not be apprehensive of Hussaini philosophy as it aims at protecting humanity not Muslims. It has braved the worst possible persecution to survive till date. Does not it indicate Hussaini Revolution’s as a solution to eradicate IS sponsored terrorism.   (Photo Courtesy Google Image)
