Nimr's Execution & Exemplary Protest in Kanpur

Scholars of Different Faiths Addressing
Anti-Saudi Arabia Protest Kanpur-India

Dr. Mazhar Naqvi
Indian Industrial City Kanpur today  created a history with regard to ongoing worldwide protest over the ‘execution’ of Sheikh Baqar al-Nimr. Cutting across religious barriers, people from different faiths, including women and children, staged a vociferous demonstration at Gandhi ‘Pratima’(Statue) in historic Phoolbagh ground in protest against the killing of innocent cleric. They also took strong exception to the projection of Sheikh Nimr as a patronizer of ‘Al Qaida’ by Saudi regime and described the allegation as the greatest example of falsehood and fabrication.
Held under the banner of ‘Aatankvadi Virodhi Morcha’ (Anti-Terrorism Action Committee), the demonstration attracted Christian social activist Chotey Bhai Noronha, Computer Engineer, Prof.Desh Raj Sahu, Reformer Girish Awasthi, Qazi-e-Shahar, Maulana Hamid Sahib , Maulana Bachchan Sahib and several other clerics of Shia and Sunni Muslims .All of them described the action of Saudi government uncalled for and sought intervention of United nations, Government of India and Human Right organizations to prevent the desert kingdom from carrying out further executions on the basis of farce trials.

Prominent Zakira Ahle-Bait and Professor of Management Studies, Dr. Hena Zaheer while speaking to media persons condemned the execution in strongest terms and said “  21st century  partners of Hazrat Zainab will disgrace Saudi regime and ensure its collapse. She stressed upon the need for sustaining the campaign initiated in Kanpur as Saudi government was exhibiting rigidity in its approach and trying to justify execution of sheikh Nimr and Sunni scholar Faris Zahrani”.
Earlier, addressing women demonstrators she told them about the propagation of the message of Martyr of Humanity, Hazrat Imam Hussain by her sister Hazrat Zainab  after the massacre at Karbala. She urged women to expose the regime of Shah Saud by raising their voice against its oppressive policies.” Remember Bibi Zainab. How hapless and helpless she was after the martyrdom of Imam Hussain. Yet she showed exemplary courage and shook the foundations of Yazidi empire through her fiery speeches and sermons. As admirers of Hazrat zainab, it is incumbent upon you to disgrace the modern Yazidis in whatever manner you can”, she said.
Professor Zaheer also demanded economic sanctions against Saudi Arabia in view of its gross violation of Human Rights in its dominions and also for running ‘Madarsas’ to produce Jihadis who believe killing of innocents as a short cut to heaven. She also declared to continue the stir so long as Saudi government does not giver an assurance to the world that it won’t execute Ali al Nimr, nephew of executed cleric who too awaits a similar fate in a Saudi Prison.

Today’s demonstration was historic in the sense as perhaps for the first time in India Hindus joined hands with their Muslims brothers to condemn the unfair execution of an Islamic scholar. Their participation indicated need of an all out campaign against terrorism and to perceive their dastardly acts as inhuman acts of criminals without any religious affiliation.(Photo by Meesum Rizvi)
